I feel like there is also an element of "hey it would be cool to try this like this, wanna do it??" That seems to pop up with all my friends that work in film.
If it was a crisis everyone would be trying to fix it. But it's not. The system is working as it's designed. So the design needs to change.
Not many governments of occupying forces are willing to condemn governments of occupying forces... Eg Canada.
I have a very naive and optimistic view that society will be saved by this culture and attitude. "You pay for electricity?? Yeah this has been my discovery with friends and family working in the oil sands. The pay is only "good" when you are 18 and have nothing else going on. Especially when considering quality of life being remote or flying constantly. Or the impact on your motivation outside of work when you are doing 14 days of 14 hours.
