Hitler was an awful human being, but I think it's an insult to compare him to a guy like Trump. Hitler at least understood the struggles of ordinary people. He was an ordinary person once. He had dreams and aspirations. But he also had prejudices and his experiences in the First World War filled him with bitterness and rage that shaped the man he would eventually become. Hitler was a monster, but the likes of Trump isn't even fit to shine his shoes. Trump is just an overgrown toddler with power.
A better question is how did we get BACK to the point of needing to do that. Our ancestors already fought this war. Why the hell do we keep going backwards?
Nah, that just screws over people who aren't involved. Burn down the CEO's house, the manager's house, get the people who are actually to blame for this shit. Burning down the warehouse puts employees out of work, and makes it harder for people to get the items they need and might not be able to get elsewhere because brick and mortar stores are dying.
The third option is armed rebellion. The system cannot be changed from within.
They manipulated the global market. The rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer. Also, some brown people will die. This is the goal. This has always been the goal.
If you aren't the sort of person that can be bought off or extorted, you won't get remotely close to a position of power. The game has been rigged since before you and I were born. Why else do you think the democrats are just as worthless at punishing these criminals as the republicans? They're either crooked themselves, compromised, or they're not in positions where they have actual power.
100%. Most people have no understanding of scale. To have the sort of utopian society that people talk about, we would either need to have vastly smaller societies, and you'd need to regularly cull the population to keep them from hitting the threshold that causes them to need to expand into other territories to keep up with the population growth. OR you would need to have sci-fi magic stuff like they do in Star Trek. The Federation works because of replicators, transporters and warp drives.
If it makes you feel any better, I'm married with a kid and while I wouldn't trade them for anything, I do wish I had more time for video games and other hobbies. You always want whatever it is you don't have.
You were lied to, son. I'm sorry. You sacrificed your body so that wealthy assholes could make a little more money. It was never about freedom or rights. It hasn't been for a very very long time. The last time this was the case was WW2, and honestly we were only the good guys by default in that one.
That isn't an accurate representation of "far left." Something more accurate would be like the Khmer Rouge. They too wanted to exterminate entire social groups. The extremes tend to be more authoritarian and brutal. The idea of having a government that protects and sees to the needs of its citizens is about as politically moderate and center as it gets. The real problem you're having is with people who aren't radicals, but also refuse to engage in the fight against radicals and their ideas.
Great is a subjective term. The whole MAGA thing refers to economic prosperity and a return to traditional Judeo-Christian values from the 1950s. But the fact is, even that era was fueled by hatred and fear. Things were only "great" for a small percentage of the population, but thanks to stellar marketing people believe that prosperity was the norm and not the exception.
Yes it did. Our country was built on the back of slavery and genocide. Our fortunes in the 20th century were built on destroying and exploiting other countries in the name of "containing the spread of Communism." Open a history book and realize that the America you see right now has always existed.
I can think of a number of countries that are on number 10, including the United States. What the US did to the indigenous people of this continent qualifies as a genocide, and they deny it to this very day. That's why I laugh when someone tells me "That can't happen here!" My sweet summer child, it already has!
"Right now?" No. We've always been this way. This country was built on the back of genocide and slavery. Manifest Destiny showed exactly how selfish and cruel we could be. Our treatment of Native Americans, African slaves, Asian and Mexican immigrants, has been well documented and has continued throughout the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. While the Nazis were setting up their regime in the 1930s, the US was deporting US citizens to Mexico. We have never been "the good guys" as a country.
What's crazy to me is that people are even surprised or confused by what's going on. Our country was built on slavery and genocide. All we have ever done is exploit the environment and people, all in order to enrich a small percentage of Americans. We have moments of progress that are often the result of decades of blood, sweat, and tears from oppressed peoples; but the core values of America have never changed. Trump is just new packaging for the same old shitty, greedy product.
