My observation is that it’s never about improving lives but always about making the lives of others (anyone not white and male) worse by comparison.
Your first sentence made me laugh. I know you mean there’s not just one “the Church”, but pretty much every version of “the Church” is a monolithic entity in its own right.

It sounds again like ill-informed people. I’m not trying to belittle folks, but what you’ve described is no different to evangelical protestants saying Catholics aren’t real christians. Identity is a factor for sure, but often it’s a conflation of ethnic, cultural and religious identities, too.

You don’t owe the world anything and the world doesn’t owe you anything. Knowing that intellectually can be remarkably freeing. But *feeling* it is different and might be a sign of burnout and/or depression. There are things you can do - if a therapist is something you can afford then it might be good. There’s also a lot of free resources and even YouTube videos. I like psychology in a nutshell and healthygamerGG.
