Historically ruling classes removed their hats before entering a place to prove they weren't hiding knives or other weapons to kill the host. The meaning changed over time to become a sign of respect instead of proving you weren't a murderer. The lower classes adopted the practice to mimic the upper class as they usually often did. These days it's a traditional sign of respect imbedded in western culture with roots tracing back to that original practice

Nope, that angle make sure the baby has to work for the milk instead of gravity doing the work. It's a closer simulation to actual nursing, if the bottle is too easy they often struggle nursing because they expect the easier method.

As someone who works in the escalator/elevator trade never ever do this. It takes a lot of work to clean your blood from the treads, the paperwork is massive and the bill is even bigger.
