I would say they're more like dog breeds - similar enough that you can generalize, but different enough you can notice

Each type of snake more or less has their own personalities. In some ways, ball pythons can be like pet rocks. Some are more active

I feed all of my snakes frozen/thawed mice (well, actually, young rats), so it's a little easier.

Not typically, but they can get sick/get infections, like any other animal. Or if there's a wound that's not treatable at home.

ball pythons are typically good with kids (calm snake in general), and they are super popular right now so it's easy to find good breeders

not really - my 2 rosy boas just have a strong feeding response, so they can get nippy when feeding. even then, cat scratches hurt more

My Rosy Boas never have a problem finding the rat, but sometimes they get too excited and miss, so I have to wear thick gloves w/ the tongs

Additional con: having to find a reptile certified vet, and vet bills are normally more expensive than for my cats. but pro: no spay/neuter

I have 3 snakes: 2 in the 2-4 ft range, 1 that's around 5, will possibly get up to 7-9 as she gets older. I love them

cons: they're addicting, sometimes they are picky eaters, larger snakes = larger food supply, initial cost/set-up can be expensive
