I, too, am an atheist, and I disagree with all *religions* equally while valuing religious and irreligious people equally. I like the alcohol metaphor: I don't partake, but I don't want to make it illegal for others to partake. I think it's a bit crass to partake heavily in public, and I certainly don't want it involved in legislative decisions, much less pedagogical situations. I furthermore think young people should be mature enough to handle the consequences before it's offered to them.
