In a glider yes as glider has no engine and on final they have to lose speed rapidly before landing
Slipping is really only seen in gliders as a last attempt to lose speed before landing zone a glider can't gain speed very easily
That's not true slipping is a technique used in glider planes this is a plane landing in a cross wind. Skiing is very uncommon in airliners
