The horn is a warning siren but people often describe the sound of an actual tornado going overhead as a “freight train” so confusion is understandable.

So most cliff divers wear shoes for a couple reasons, one because it doesn’t hurt as much hitting the water from high jumps, but two and more importantly, it makes the walk back up a whole lot easier. Sometimes people throw their shoes in first and then jump as an alternative to jumping with them on.
