This comment is so incredibly dismissive of the fact that AI coders were built on the backs of what real people have accomplished over the years. It’s important we have real experts furthering human knowledge and expertise in every field. Otherwise AI will be feeding us regurgited vomit in perpetuity. And we still have to verify what these coders produce for us, and those people have to know their shit

Yes all very large cities attract the very wealthy because they offer everything. This leads to demand for and development of more expensive housing, at the opportunity cost of building affordable. Middle income earners rarely move TO NYC. They move out. Generational assets held by this demographic represent greater value if sold, allowing relocation to cheaper regions. That being said, while cost of living is high, as the rich crowd out the less rich, wages are higher there as well.

These are all good considerations when building urban communities. Many people prefer suburban or rural life. It’s interesting that so many of the methods and materials of single family home construction are the same today as 70 years ago. Houses today are structurally very similar to houses built in the 50s, with updates on the utilities. Modular manufactured housing could help. But would come with drawbacks and job losses.
