I received a kitten ten years ago, and yes, she did in fact grow up to be the DEVIL.

Nothing wrong with a broken cat. Mine's missing his left eye, and he's doing great. I call him Boss.

12 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

He look's like a boss!

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have a cat named Boss, too!

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I adopted my three-legged adult cat in August, and we've been best friends since day 1. Love you, Jameson! <3 http://imgur.com/UNQmk4G

*rubs belly* so adorbz yes you are!

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I worked at an animal shelter. Someone came in once and asked if we had puppies. He didn't want an adult because he didn't want a "used" dog

12 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Were you fired (hence, workED there) because you killed him? Please tell me you did. For the good of humanity.

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Once had a lady dump a 15 year old poodle because she didn't want fur on the new couch, I feel your pain ...

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

What an asshole. Poodles don't even shed.

you have an incredibly long arm

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I just get nervous at the kitten being near what looks like a high open window

12 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 0

animals have reasonably good "I don't want to die" instincts

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Im crying.

12 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

I adopted a 3 year old cat from my humane society. Greatest decision ever. Shes going to be 7 at the end of this year.

12 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

Note to dog people: Every line of this still applies.

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I adopted a very nervous cat that was labeled as dangerous while I worked at my local shelter.

12 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

He is a bit odd at times but he has the best attitude I have seen in my cats.

12 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I do hope that with better funding shelters can start a behavior testing program for cats just like they have for dogs.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

But...But.. Can I get a dog? I'm allergic to cats :C

12 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

There are lots of dogs that are good for ppl with allergies! I got my dog from HRI. He doesn't shed. He has hair, not fur.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If only we were as passionate about adult "broken" human as we were cats.

12 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 8

I'm all for an amputee, but fuck the crazy ones. I've had enough of those. If they've got a broke head, they can go elsewhere.

thank you.

I think I meant to say "compassionate towards." I haven't slept in over 24 hours.

12 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I totally forgot I was in user submitted. To the front page with you

12 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 4

I rescued my butthead cat when he was 13. It's kind of like having a tiny old person, I love it.

12 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

We took in a stray cat, too, when we noticed it was getting hard for him to jump up on the fences. He lived another 5 happy years with us.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It should have said "I am deaf but im not going to listen to anything you say anyways"

12 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

I hate cats but now I want all of them. IMGUR WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME WHAT IS THIS?

12 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

welcome to the group, we have catnip.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

of all the animals that I have adopted over the years, the elderly Miss Itsy adopted me. I only had her for a year, and she both won (1/2)

12 years ago | Likes 165 Dislikes 2

and broke my heart in the same year. She was a 12 year old kitten, blind, deaf, and had dragon breath, and loved to chase pom-poms.

It's okay, I'm allergic to cats as well

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

12 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 2

I'd adopt a cat if I wasn't allergic

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You could still do it (as long as it isnt a severe allergy). I'm allergic, had a cat for about a year (ex took it with her). Just pop a ...

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

allergy capsule once a day, the 24-hour coverage stuff. Eventually you'll also get a little desensitized to the allergy.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Our third cat is a rescue, 7 years old and full of quirks. We love him and his moustache though.

12 years ago | Likes 94 Dislikes 0

He's fancy =)

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I had a three legged cat once named tripod

12 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 1

A family friend has a dog named tripod. He has all 4 legs, he just pees on things a lot :p

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Haha, a vet I used to go to had one named TLC -- which of course stood for "Three Legged Cat"

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

hehe cute--I thought of that singing group x)

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That could also be a chemistry joke :) I like it.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

There was a three-legged kitty at the shelter where I used to work. We called him Captain Barbossa

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have asthma cat. Asthma cat is expensive, but he loves me back and he's worth it.

12 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

What do you do for an asthma cat, my vet seems to feel there is nothing you can do. My poor kitty wheezes all the time :(

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I worked at the RSPCA and it was always so heartwarming when older or "less adoptable" cats found good home too.

12 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

*volunteered, not worked. It was one of the best experiences I've had.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The cat that my family have had for the past 15, going on 16, years was from the RSPCA.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She's less active now that she's nearing 17 yrs old. But she'll still warn off other cats in the garden if they get too close.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I adopted a "broken" dog. Best life decision for both of us :)

12 years ago | Likes 105 Dislikes 1

That's my story. I got my little guy at 4 broken years. His 5th year has been his and my best year so far. :) it's great to save each other

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

your comment made me drop a tear :')

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You know how they tell you not to adopt a shy puppy? Mine was cowering, so heart went out to him. He's 11 now- sweet but a bit of a weirdo.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You should just go into the room and see which one comes to you. I did that too , and i couldn't wish for a better cat

12 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 2

Long-ish story, but bear with me. At our local shelter they had a large collection of unwanted cats. one male was clearly feral. (1/3)

12 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 1

My wife at the time and I would go to visit and try to get some used to human touch. there was a male cat that was clearly the "boss" (2/3)

12 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

He was 23 lbs and pure muscle. didn't meow but instead mumbled. we adopted him and named him Frank. turned out to be a really nice house cat

12 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

"Frank" is a brilliant name for a cat! My big "battle-class" cat was "Bob".

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was worried, based on your username, that this would end up in the cat committing murder...

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

brb, adopting all the cats.

Real talk: This made me want to go into a shelter and adopt their least adoptable cat

12 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

This is Sharkey, he likes to rape, pillage, and destroy households. You want to adopt him? Fine with us.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Can I ride him into battle?

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Do you have the capability to take care of a cat? If so, why not do it?

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes and no: I already have two cats, but I'm still living with my mom (ladies, contain your orgasms), so...

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Are you me? But I had to give away one cat :(

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

seriously, if I ever went to a shelter I would come with all of the animals.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

12 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

I also did but I couldn't afford them so we had to put him to sleep. It broke my heart and I still think about him every day.

12 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

it was his good life with you that matters!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That must have been extremely painful. I'm so sorry for your loss.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Don't beat yourself up. He was obviously ill and despite medical intervention being possible, it may not have been the best.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Make sure you check out the organizations that help with vet costs if this ever happens again, though <3

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Could you recommend some? I am having this exact issue :/

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

what's going on, by the way? Can we message each other on here? I may be able to help as well :)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Your cat severed one of your fingers and you got it reattached for only $6000? You must have shopped around!

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

This is a good warning. Don't adopt an animal if you don't think you'll be able to afford unanticipated health issues.

12 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

I see your point but I feel like $6K is above and beyond what most unanticipated health issues would cost.

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

That all depends where you live. Routine vet visits can cost hundreds in my own experience, and anything more serious, who knows.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As a vet student, you'd be surprised how often $6K worth of treatment is needed.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Even the Senor Cat

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

A British Blue! My mother owns one, a female, she's the biggest softy in the world. Amazing cats. (:

12 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I know! He is so gentle. Never ever scratches or bites. Just a big ball of cuddles.

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Same as ours! She's jealous of other cats though, we can't get any more now or she gets really miserable. ):

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

"Get this damn bowtie off me, human. I'm pooping on your desk tonight."

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

He's actually really cool with the whole costume thing. I'm a crazy cat lady. It's what I do.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My cat's a rescue with some serious psychological trauma- she'd been starved/used in a kitten mill. She's the best damn cat I've ever had.

12 years ago | Likes 358 Dislikes 1

Hell, before I was born my parents adopted an old-ass cat named "Momma Kitty." (original, no?) She was a full adult cat with basically (1/3)

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

kitty paranoia... she'd only sit, crammed into the ass-end of the cage, hiding. Dad insisted because "Nobody wanted her." She lived (2/3)

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

to be 23, and he cared for her every day of that time. Insisted he didn't like cats, though. It seems we only ever had rescue cats. (3/3)

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My cat wasn't from a kitten mill, but she was skin and bones when we got her. She also hates guys. I hate thinking what happened before us.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

My cat only just now (three years later) lets me pick her up/touch her neck. She was so malnourished we couldn't tell she was a longhair.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Poor thing, I'm glad you got a hold of her so you could treat her better :)

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It was totally by accident, too. Mom found her starving (literally; we could count ribs) by the local bike trail and gave her to me. xD

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As someone who used to work in an animal shelter: 1000x this! And don't ignore the black and black&white kitties for less "common" colours!

12 years ago | Likes 1420 Dislikes 4

I have a black and white kitty!!!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have two black and white cats, both adopted when they were somewhere around 5 years old. One is 8 now and one is six and I love them both!

This goes for black dogs too! ;.; Love ALL THE ANIMALS.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All of my animals (I have five; two dogs, three cats) are black, or black and white. They're my favorite! :)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've loved the other cats I've had but my black cat growing up was the most affectionate. He followed us on every walk with our dog

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People do this?? Heartless!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My cat is black and white. My sister chose her all those years ago. She's less active in her later years, but she's still cuddly as ever!

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Every cat I've ever adopted was black, ever since I heard how hard it is to get someone to take them.

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I have a black kitty! http://officerjt.imgur.com/all/

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I didn't realize that was an issue. I have a torbie, but only because she was found alone as a small kitten & needed a home. A cat is a cat

12 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Yup, given a choice between a calico cat that will run away as soon as you look at her and a black cat that will love you to eternity (1/2)

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Most people would chose the calico for their "family pet". It was so maddening (2/2)

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Some of us have weaknesses for certain cats, though. *ahem*

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Our black cat is by far the coolest and best cat I've gotten to know. Plus, they're so cute!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I adopted my 7-year-old b&w cat kitty a year ago and he's the bomb

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

now I feel better about being partial to adult black & white cats, I like them more than colored cats. 1 of mine: http://imgur.com/bO9N6d1

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I've always wanted a black cat, but I'm afraid people will hurt it, especially around Halloween, since they're 'bad luck'. People suck.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My cat's white and black. He's so adorable. Poor thing was abandoned and starving.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The two best cats I've ever had were both black cats and the two smartest cats I've met were black and white.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have a b&w cat and I love her to bits.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The shelter was quite surprised when we adopted a very cute all black kitten. He was so cuddly, and has been a great add to our house :)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As someone who prefers those colors YAY. Now I just need to wait till this lease is finally up and I can rent a cat friendly apartment.

12 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I fucking love me my Black and Tux kitties!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love my black cat! She's just the sweetest!

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I want a black and white female kitty...so I can call her Snoopy.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Black cats are the best.

I would have thought that those colours were some of the most popular.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

that's dumb. I love my black cat

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

As someone who can't have a cat because my parents hate them, I would take a black kitty in a heartbeat!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have always had at least one b&w cat. My childhood is made of b&w cats. I have never realized that people would consider them not special.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And I also didn't know that black cats are unwanted. Where I live, people seem to love them. We all know about the superstition, but still.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People don't like black and white cats?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Black cats are much less likely to have health issues as they are less likely to be inbred like most cats.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

My cat is all black, adopted him about 12 years ago. We had to put him down today, but he is one of the best friends I ever had.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I'm so sorry to hear that; it's the worst feeling but at least he had 12 happy years with you.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Thank you. He was quite amazing. I never understood why people would dis black cats, he was nothing but loving and playful everyday.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

This. Also, still a stigma on "Black cats" being evil. Many of my rescues have been black, for this reason. <3

12 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Wait, people don't like adopting Tuxedo kitties? But they're the best ones!

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I work with Black Cat Rescue. We work to save black (and black and white) kittehs in Boston because of this exact reason! Yay. :)

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I actually always go straight for the black cats. I know so many people don't want them, but I do. I've had two black cats, one who (1)

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

lived to age 17, we got him when I was 1, died when I was 18, and the second is now 10, and I'm 28.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All my cats are tuxedo :D

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My future cat is going to be a black cat for sure. I just know it.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

WHAT? BLACK/BLACK & WHITE CATS ARE THE MOST AWESOME FUR COLOUR!

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

have* I was too excited.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

My BoBo is a black cat. They're awesome, if a little jumpy. Mine stomps everywhere. She could never be a hunter.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I only adopt black cats... on my 3rd!

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

We have two black cats adopted from the SFSPCA!

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That's racist.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

We adopted my black and white tuxedo kitty bc she was the least likely to get a home out of all the kittens in her litter :)

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Agreed! Some shelters even have a black cat day so you can save a little on your adoption fees!

12 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

My sister got her cat free on Black Friday because of a small black tuft on her tail!

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

thats awesome!

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Black and grey cats are actually my favourite. They're just so beautiful :)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i have a black cat. Sweetest kitty ever!!

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have two cats. A giant solid black kitty, and a small black and white one. When I was little all I ever wanted was a black and white cat.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do I have to get the one-eyed cat with pee all over him though?

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I have this weird thing, but I swear it's true- black and white animals have the best personalities- cats & dogs...

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love my black and white kitty :)

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I adopted two black cats from the same litter who were "on sale" for $50 because they had been at the shelter since they were born.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They're the chillest cats ever!

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I find black cats the cutest anyway, they're fluffy (but mine is the child of Satan)

12 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 0

My black cat is the sweetest (..child of Satan)

12 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Holy shit :D

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

So is mine.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Yeah, at this point we've given up on our furniture & curtains. Despite the bazillion dollars worth of posts, that's all he wants to scratch

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Mine is really social, but sometimes ankles just look fun to bite despite hours of play time to expend her energy.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Sometimes you just can't resist a good ankle.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love all animals especially cats, but I have yet to meet a loving solid black cat. Maybe I have just been unfortunate so far.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My friend's neighbor has a black cat that'll follow you around the neighborhood while purring and lets anyone pet her. Nicest cat I've met.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I knew sweet black kitties had to be out there. Maybe some day. *sigh*

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Mine is really social, but sometimes ankles just look fun to bite despite hours of play time to expend some energy.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My solid black kitty was the most loving cat I've ever had. She was thrown out of a moving car as a kitten.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What the fuck is WRONG with people??

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

When we got our black cat, the sign on his "cubicle" at PetSmart (local shelter doing adoption day) said "Nobody will adopt me because they-

12 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

some shelters name stray black cats "jellybean" and other bright, colourful things for this reason. works pretty well i hear

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

-think I'm bad luck." But he rolled around & charmed us. He HAS been bad luck for our furniture & curtains, but oh well.

12 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

A family friends cat had kittens, no one wanted the black one...he's a Maine coon, with double paws...hes a beast.

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

and he's all mine...I also took his sister, a tiny tortoise shell.

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Some shelters in Canada won't let you adopt a black cat around Halloween for sad reasons. :(

12 years ago | Likes 253 Dislikes 1

This tide is slowly changing, as the chance of dying in the shelter for lack of room in Halloween is much higher than the chance the 1/2

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 adopter is a fucking psycho. Any animal shelter should be doing adoption checks that would mostly weed out psychos ayway.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was at a shelter in the US that had the same policy

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same applies at some shelters in the US too.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm glad they have that policy around Halloween, even though it's terrible that's it's needed. :/

12 years ago | Likes 155 Dislikes 0

It actually ends up killing a ton of cats who don't get adopted and get killed for space during the entire month.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Hmm, source? Seems like the shelter would know better if that was what ended up happening.

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

In 140, I'm limited. Sending you a PM!

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thank you! I work for Black Cat Rescue and we're always trying to dispel this myth. Cats will almost def get killed for lack of space, 1/2

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Whereas the chance of ending up adopted by a psycho is considerably less. (Avg adoption rate is 50% nationally, higher for just cats)

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't even want to think about what those reasons are.

12 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 0

The muggle minister made sure they are all reserved for witches on that day.

12 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Ahh that makes sense. I'd assume that is a collaborative task with the Ministry.

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

You made my sad face happy faced. +1 for you.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have decided this is how it works now. If anyone asks, this will be my answer.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We had a group of American students move in across the road around Halloween. I have two black cats. I got scared and rightly so. Got (1

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

the group's visa's taken away after what they tried to do to my cats after calling the cops and informing their university. Fuck Halloween.

12 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I mean, it sucks that your suspicion ended up to be true, but why specifically for Americans? Seems odd to me

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I don't know, but the neighbours were American exchange students and they're the only time I've ever had a problem with my cats.

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had had previous run ins with that group prior to Halloween that made me suspicious they werent just typical yahoos, so that's why though.

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Its because they are wanted more like valentines for goths right...right.

12 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

*panicked* RIGHT, YES INDEED

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That's awesome; I love when shelters truly care more about their animals than money.

12 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It actually ends up killing a bunch of cats because they never get the chance to get adopted. They run out of cages and cats get the axe.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As opposed to the majority of them being returned or abandoned when they can barely fend for themselves? I was super familiar with the (1/2)

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What are you talking about? We're assuming cats would be adopted by normal, healthy people. Not left on the streets.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, feral cats live decent lives. They're one of the few animals who have chosen to domesticate themselves. Check out alleycatallies.org

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

shelter in my college city, and very rarely did they euthanize cats. I knew cats that were there for years. Perhaps it was just that area...

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But my family has a black cat and a black&white cat. :-)

12 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

we have a tuxedo cat and my mom gets super paranoid around halloween. she's an indoor/outdoor cat but between Oct 30-Nov 2 she's indoor only

12 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

I do the same for any indoor-outdoor cat. Same for the 4th of July... People do dumb things sometimes, on those days.

12 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah, all pet owners in my area are warned to keep their black/black&white cats inside around Halloween. :(

12 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That's really sad, I'd never heard about that before

12 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Oh goddamn, I never thought of this! Now I'm scared, I have a solid black and a tuxedo kitty. :(

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

D: I don't even know what to say to that! I hate humans.

12 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 5

Humans are actually in the right for that. It's like adopting rabbits during Easter. People do it for the image of the time and don't (1/2)

12 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

realize the commitment that they're actually jumping into.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Well typically around Halloween, you can't adopt black cats because some

12 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

After Rango came out, Petsmart had deals on buying reptiles, I think if you had your ticket stub. It made me angry. :(

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry, I wasn't clear with that comment - I hate humans for making this policy necessary. It's the same situation around Christmas too :(

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The shelter in my area promoted black animal adoption throughout the month of October, because they are the least adopted colourl.

12 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is an awesome move in response to the myth that cats end up sacrificed to cults. It's very creative and your shelter must rock!

12 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I feel like you're being sarcastic. I've also never heard that cats get sacrifices that way. (Also, it applied for bunnies and dogs etc)

12 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not sarcastic at all! Lots of shelter won't adopt out black cats during October for fear of satanic rituals.
